A double major in Political Science and Global Studies, JuliAnne brings her global awareness to a wide range of MediaLab activities. Invited to join MediaLab in Spring 2011, JuliAnne serves as senior producer and researcher for the upcoming documentary “Sidetracked: Redefining Rail” and is a lead member of a research team producing a documentary on Islamophobia in the United States, a film that will premiere in April 2013. During the Summer of 2011, JuliAnne interned in the Media Relations Department of World Vision, the global relief organization headquartered in Federal Way, Wash. JuliAnne has also written articles and taken photos that have appeared in the Tacoma Weekly and Scene magazine.

Co-Director, Senior Producer
Heather, a senior Communication major with an emphasis in journalism and a minor in business, joined MediaLab Fall 2012. Prior to joining MediaLab, Heather has interned in the photo department at The News Tribune; as a reporter and photographer for The Peninsula Gateway and sister paper The Puyallup Herald; and with Women of Vision, a volunteer ministry of World Vision. On campus at PLU, Heather has served as the editor-in-chief and news editor of The Mooring Mast, PLU’s student-run weekly newspaper, and president of the PLU Society of Professional Journalists chapter when it won regional campus chapter of the year.

Associate Producer, Publicity Manager
Katie,a Communication major concentrating in Public Relations and Advertising and a Business Administration minor, was admitted into MediaLab Spring 2011. Katie has extensive event planning experience through her work at Elixr Productions LLC, an Oregon–based entertainment company geared toward creating unique experiences for high school students through large–scale dance parties and live performances. Katie has served as a member of MediaLab’s Public Relations team, and is a member of two documentary teams whose films are set to premiere in Fall 2012 and Fall 2013, respectively. Katie worked during Spring 2012 as a communication intern for the Puget Sound Partnership. For Summer 2012, Katie will intern for Oak and Cypress Weddings and Events in Tacoma, Wash.

Boo, a Political Science major with an emphasis in international relations, was selected to join MediaLab in Spring 2011. During the summer of 2011, he interned at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva, where he served as a freelance correspondent for the Idaho Statesman. Prior to MediaLab, Boo was a political columnist for the Mooring Mast, PLU’s student newspaper, and spent a semester abroad at the University of Jordan studying Middle Eastern politics.

Currently a New Media program Masters student at Kadir Has University in Istanbul, Turkey, Sabina brings her extensive international journalism experience to the team. She has worked at several local media organizations for social issues, including one year as a reporter at the Islam and Modern Society newspaper in Baku, Azerbaijan. She has also contributed to many international media organizations such as the Institute for War and Peace (IWPR), BBC Media Action, European Neighborhood Journalism Network (ENJN), and the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ). Sabina also received the prestigious College Fellow at the Poynter Institute in Florida.
